First 5-quarter Portion of MEPN: 79 credits
*NOTE: 1. The first five quarters of MEPN are intensive, requiring students to be in clinical and/or class up to seven days per week. Working during these first five quarters is strongly discouraged. 2. Preparation for taking the NCLEX must occur during the fifth quarter. Enrollment in an NCLEX review course is strongly encouraged in order to enhance the possibility of passing the exam on the first attempt, which must be no later than August 31.
Not all states allow for eligibility to take the NCLEX without a nursing degree. Students who wish to take the NCLEX in a state outside of Washington are advised to check with that state board of nursing to determine if it is possible to do so.
MN
Portion of MEPN
Enrollment in regular graduate course work in one of 18 MN focal areas occurs when a student has:
a. made satisfactory progress in the first five quarters of MEPN, i.e. earned a minimum 2.0 in all
graded classes, "Credit" in non-graded classes, and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; and
b. consistently met essential
qualifications; and
c. passed the NCLEX, earning active, unrestricted RN licensure in Washington State.
The length of time required to complete the MN portion of
MEPN varies between 4 and 7 quarters of full time study. Focal
areas within the MN program must comply with
minimum SoN MN requirements. Many focal area requirements
far exceed this minimum. Part-time study is available for
some programs of study.
