Current Students

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program is comprised of three parts, totaling a minimum of 90 credits. Per the AACN Essentials, post-master's DNP study should be a minimum of 12 months in length of full-time study, and post-baccalaureate DNP study should be a minimum of 36 months in length of full-time study. 18 credits must be taken for a numeric grade.

Advanced Practice: 45 Credits

NSG 597: Synthesis of Advanced Practice Nursing 3
NCLIN 798: Tripartite Immersion Clinical Min. 4
Cohort 1: Students who began in Winter 2007 are required to have an immersion experience. Speak with your advisor about how to go about this. NSG 597 is not required.

Leadership: 15 Credits

Course Credits
NSG 530: Professional Identity and Leadership Processes in Nursing 2-4
Social Justice: One course selected from a menu
Remaining coursework should cover the following topics:
  • Organizational and Systems Management
  • Policy
  • Health Informatics
  • Leadership style/Inter-professional Collaboration
 
Cohort 1: Students who began in Winter 2007 are required to have 15 credits of Leadership and AACN Essentials II, IV, V, and VI in their program of study.
 
Cohort 2: NURS 551 fullfills the NSG 530 requirement.
