• Prior to your clinical rotation at Swedish, you will need to complete an online orientation for students. Once your instructors have given you the go-ahead and told you which topics must be completed on InfoPort, please visit the following site:

• Bring a copy of your HIPAA completion to orientation. This will allow you to complete an abbreviated form of HIPAA education that focuses specifically on Swedish implementation of the regulation.

Important Clinical Information for BSN Students In order to help facilitate a positive learning environment for students, instructors and staff, please keep the following in mind when attending a clinical rotation at Swedish Medical Center: Please review the Placement Protocol that the School of Nursing must follow when placing students at Swedish Medical Center. Students must come in as a group to select patients for the next clinical day, avoiding multiple students coming in at different times of the day asking the charge nurse which patients to choose (which ultimately leads to the same questions being asked repeatedly). Please avoid coming in during a change-of-shift, which occurs between 3 and 3:30pm. (Some units also have changes-of-shift between 7 and 7:30am or 7 and 7:30pm.) It is expected that you will check with patients ahead of time and get their agreement to have a student care for them.
