All Students: Policies & Requirements - CPR
Training
All BSN, MN, MEPN, and DNP students are required to have a current
CPR certification throughout the nursing program. If you do not yet have
CPR certification, please plan to take a CPR class, which at a minimum
must include both adult and infant/child resuscitation. CPR training should include a practical/skills evaluation portion; on-line CPR training is not accepted. We recommend that you take the American Heart Association (http://www.americanheart.org) course, specially intended for health care providers, as some clinical sites require this course (click on CPR & ECC, Training Courses, Healthcare Professional and BLS Provider Course).
Proof of CPR training is required
at the new student orientation, where the expiration date
of your training is noted. CPR training expires on the date
shown on your CPR card. If no date is shown, it will considered
to be an annual renewal. You are responsible for seeing that
your CPR training is maintained throughout your enrollment
in the School of Nursing; if your initial training will expire
during the course of your enrollment, you will be required
to present proof to Academic Services that you have renewed
your CPR training.
