All Students: The Basics - Minimum Computer System Requirements

Some courses at the School of Nursing make extensive use of technology. For those courses it is recommended that your computer system meet the following specifications. If you are not in a position to obtain a new computer or upgrade your existing system, computers are available in the Health Sciences Library and in the School of Nursing Computer Labs. If none of these options are acceptable please contact your course instructor.

WINDOWS PC:
  • CPU - Pentium III 500 MHz (or equivalent)
  • Ram - 128 MB
  • Hard drive - 20GB
  • CD-ROM drive 12x speed
  • Operating System 2000/XP Windows XP
  • Video Resolution 1024 x 768 @ 256 colors
  • Modem** 56 kbps (V.90) Cable/DSL or campus connection strongly recommended.
  • 16-bit sound card and speakers
  • Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher Mozilla Firefox 1.5
  • Macromedia Flash Player 6.0.79 or higher
  • Real Player
  • Windows Media Player
MACINTOSH
  • CPU - PowerPC G3 500 MHz
  • Ram - 128 MB
  • Hard drive - 20GB
  • CD-ROM drive 12x speed
  • Operating System OS X 10.2, 10.3, 10.4
  • Video Resolution 1024 x 768 @ 256 colors
  • Modem** 56 kbps (V.90) Cable/DSL or campus connection strongly recommended.
  • Safari 1.1 or higher Mozilla Firefox 1.5
  • 16-bit sound card and speakers
  • Macromedia Flash Player 6.0.79 or higher
  • Real Player
  • Windows Media Player
