What the researchers have been doing:

The researchers have been studying the information that has been gathered about all the kids in the study. They don’t look at just one kid. They don’t know anyone’s name, what they look like, or where they live. Most of what they look at is numbers.

After they study the numbers they write about what they’ve found. What they’ve written is read by other researchers and the researchers all talk about it.
Lots of people have been interested in what the study researchers have found. The researchers have talked with the men and women in the United States Congress about what they have found so far. They’ve even gone to the White House to talk with the First Lady.

The study has been in newspapers all over the US. It’s been on television. Researchers have been invited to talk at meetings around the world—as far as China and Japan.
The NICHD Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development is an important study. None of it would happen without the kids and families who are in the study!
