Exercise-Cardiovascular Monitoring Laboratory,


An Exercise and Cardiovascular Monitoring Laboratory, located in room T652 is equipped with components of a BioPac physiological data acquisition and analysis system, a Holter analysis system, a baroreflex system, Hot Flash monitoring detector, metabolic cart, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring system, and respisomnograph system. For exercise studies, there is a Lifecycles treadmill, Quinton stationary bike, Lifefitness Universal gym, and a rack of free weights.
This laboratory also contains a Life Fitness BOD POD Body Composition Tracking System. This is an Air Displacement Plethysmograph which uses whole-body densitometry to determine body composition (fat and fat-free mass) in adults and children.
The room is also designed to accommodate low-impact exercise and yoga therapies. Adjoining rooms are set aside for observational experiments, utilizing video and auditory analysis directed through a central control room. ECG carts are available, as well as a washroom/changing room which is located next to the exercise facility.
