Approval of extramural grant proposals within the School of Nursing:
- First, the principal investigator signs the grant application and prepares
and authorizes an electronic GC-1 (e-GC-1).
- Second, the department chair of the principal investigator approves the
e-GC-1. In general, the grant application should be submitted to the department
administrator for review and chair's signature.
- Next, approval must be obtained from the department chair of other departments
within Nursing whose faculty are participating in the proposed project. In
general, the grant application should be submitted to the department administrator
for review and chair's signature.
- Next, approval signatures must be obtained from the department chair and
school or college dean for faculty from any UW school/college outside the
School of Nursing.
- If animal use is a part of the proposed project, an approval signature must
be obtained from the Animal Care Committee office.
- After approval has been obtained, the proposal may be submitted
to the UW Office of Sponsored Programs for final UW approval. A letter
of intent to complete human subjects review prior to issuance of a grant award
is no longer required by the UW Human Subjects Review Committee Office; however,
if notice is received that an award is likely, the PI should be prepared to
immediately submit a Human Subjects Review Application.
- A copy of the grant application, including a copy of the signed GC-1 form
pages and addendum, but excluding any appendices, must be submitted to the
Office for Nursing Research. If the grant is awarded, a copy of the award
notice must be sent to the Office for Nursing Research.
