Where to find biosketches

The biosketches for all School of Nursing faculty can be found in O:\Biosketches. Within this folder, the biosketches are organized into the three departments. To use these biosketches, please observe the following procedures:

1. The faculty are responsible for updating their own biosketches. Because of the labor involved, the biosketches are often not updated unless needed. Assume that all biosketches are out of date. Before using a biosketch from this folder, please email the faculty person and check to make sure that the biosketch is the latest version.
2. If you have trouble obtaining a biosketch, you can use the following techniques for getting one.
3. Check the updated biosketch for formatting and see that it does not exceed the allotted space requirements. For the latest guidelines, please see here.
4. If the faculty person responds with any updates, or if you correct any of the formatting, please replace the copy in O:\Biosketches with the updated version. One exception: if the biosketch was edited to fit fewer pages then the standard four, then please do not replace the full version with a condensed version.

The O drive is the place for biosketches

There is a single location for biosketches in the School of Nursing to lessen the amount of time that is spent on preparing grant applications. This goal cannot be accomplished if biosketches are located in multiple locations that are hard to find and/or are not accessible to all employees of the School of Nursing. Please do not store biosketches in department-specific or projects-specific folders unless someone is responsible for updating the O drive folder.

Use the naming convensions

If you are adding a biosketch to the O drive, please use the suggested name to make it easier for others to find the correct file:

Lastname_MM_YYYY.doc

All faculty and staff are responsible for updating biosketches

The School of Nursing does not have resources available to make sure that the O:\Biosketches folder is complete and all biosketches therein are formatted properly and up to date. It is the faculty's responsibility to update their biosketches as they are the ones who in a position to know when new information is available.

Those who are preparing grant applications are responsible for verifying that the biosketches are updated and formatted correctly. Any corrections should replace the previous copies online so that others do not need to duplicate work.

The O drive is only for School of Nursing biosketches

Please do not collect biosketches for any non-School faculty. There are thousands of faculty at the university and the SON does not have the resources to organize the biosketches for all of them. Furthermore, other faculty are used infrequently enough that the biosketches would be very far out of date when they were retrieved. It is not be an efficient use of time to store these biosketches in the O folder.
