Guidelines for obtaining other departments' approval

Timeline

Give each level of review one business day. This business day should be in addition to the 14 business days that you are giving OSP.

Example: If you are planning to include faculty from pediatrics on a grant in FCN, you have three levels of review. It will have to pass through the Department of Pediatrics and the School of Medicine before it reaches the Office for Nursing Research. Since OSP wants the grant 10 business days before, that means you should bring the grant to Pediatrics at least 13 business days in advance. The School of Medicine should have it 12 days in advance.

Copies

• If the grant will be submitted electronically, it can be attached to the eGC-1.
• Departments may still use paper copies for their records. Call the department ahead of time and determine which copies are necessary so you do not slow down your review time.
