• Dr. Butch de Castro is the recipient of 2012 Martin Luther King Community Service Award. This honor is part of the annual tribute to the slain civil rights leader organized by UW Health Sciences and UW Medicine.

• The 2012 American Public Health Association's annual meeting will be held October 27-31 in San Francisco, CA. The theme is Prevention and Wellness Across the Lifespan. The deadlines range from February 6-10, 2012, depending on the Section, SPIG, Caucus of Forum to which you wish to submit your abstract. Check out APHA website for more information.

• Dr. Doris Boutain was featured in Seattle Post Globe, 6/6/11, for her project, "Moving Together in Faith and Health." Read the Multi-Ethnic Churches Move Together in Faith and Health 'Just Gardens' to learn about her work with faith-based organizations to address healthy food and prevent chronic disease within the county's minority communities. She was recently featured in UW Front Porch, September 2011 issue.
  
  

• On May 26, 2010, UW faculty and participants from community health partnership agencies in the region attended the final UW DNP Community Health Program conference, Enhancing & Sustaining Inter-Organizational Connections to Promote Community Health Equity.  For more details, check out the agenda and other conference materials.
