International Programs at the UW School of Nursing

Opportunities for SoN Students and Faculty

International applicants to the UW School of Nursing's Graduate Entry Program in Nursing (GEPN), Master of Nursing (MN), Master of Science (MS), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) programs must meet all School of Nursing degree program requirements as well as the University of Washington Graduate School requirements for international applicants. The UW requirements include proof of English proficiency.

Deadlines
Because of additional time required for the visa application process, the following deadlines apply to all graduate international applicants:

Degree Program Deadline

Graduate Entry Program in Nursing (GEPN) October 15

Master of Nursing (MN)
Master of Science (MS)
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science (PhD) November 1

Important Application Information

MN, DNP, GEPN-MN or GEPN-DNP applicants must meet the University's minimum written English score requirements (see #3). These applicants must also submit spoken English test scores (see #2) because these programs include clinical rotations.
MS, PhD, GEPN-MS and GEPN-PhD are NOT required to submit spoken English test scores.
MS or PhD applicants who do not meet the minimum English proficiency scores (see #4) may still be admitted, but must enroll in the Academic English Program (AEP) during the first quarter of study.
MN and DNP applicants must have an active, unrestricted Washington State RN license.
We regret that neither the UW Graduate School nor the School of Nursing can provide transcript evaluations prior to your application to the UW. Some companies provide evaluation services, but this is not required for admission.
