Indrani de Saram Award
Staff Recognition Criteria
The Indrani de Saram Staff Recognition Award is a way to recognize classified, professional, or hourly staff members who have demonstrated exemplary job performance and have gone "beyond" their normal scope of work.
This award is intended to recognize people who could be role models for others and acknowledge and celebrate individuals that go beyond their normal job descriptions.
Criteria & Process:
1. Nominations must be at least a paragraph or two describing why the staff person is deserving of the award.
2. Must be substantive, specific, and include examples that support your nomination.
3. Nominee must have outstanding interactions with staff and faculty.
4. Signed letters need to be submitted to Simone Nelson, Box 357260.
This award will be presented each summer during the SAC Summer Retreat. Administrators, supervisors, staff, faculty, or students should nominate staff who they feel have best demonstrated exemplary job performance and who demonstrate outstanding interactions with staff and faculty. The staff member who is found to have exemplified, with long-standing commitment, the mature, professional, courteous, and respectful treatment of staff and faculty in the University of Washington School of Nursing will be selected as the year's recipient.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Treats everyone with respect
- A long-term improvement
- Cost/time savings
- Opening channels of communication
- Improvement to services provided
- A creative process or outcome
Administrators, supervisors, staff, faculty, or students in the school may submit a nomination. The nominator should describe the reasons for the nomination, preferably with specific examples. Nominations are submitted to the Staff Advisory Council (SAC). (Please email Simone Nelson, email@example.com, 206-616-0236)
Recipients who are nominated will be chosen based on the total amount of nominations submitted, and with the approval of the Staff Advisory Council and Faculty Council. The Staff Advisory Council will collect all nominations. After the submission deadline date, Staff Advisory Council will tally all nominations and verify the next Indrani de Saram award recipient. Staff Advisory Council will meet with Faculty Council for final approval to discuss and decide on whether the individual would be appropriate for this award in comparison to other nominations. In the case of a tie in nominations, the Staff Advisory Council will determine the recipient based on consistency of content with other nominations, and with the recommendation of faculty council. Only one award will be given per year and all nominees will be voted on by the School of Nursing staff, faculty, and students. The Staff Advisory and the Faculty Councils will coordinate voting and release the results.
Deadline : July 16, 2010
