Recognize Someone Today!

Informal Recognition:

Thank you for taking the first step in recognizing someone's contributions to the School of Nursing -- visiting this page!

Remember, appreciation can be shown in a myriad of ways. You can start by:

Getting to know others a little better. Ask your coworkers about their family, their hobby, their weekend or a special event they attended. Show them you know that there's a person behind the work!

Saying "thank you." Show your appreciation for your collegues' hard work and contributions. And, don't forget to say "please" often as well!

Praising something your coworker has done well -- be specific!

Sending them an e-card:

UW E-cards

Yahoo! E-cards

Other ways to informally recognize employees:

A card or a certificate of appreciation. Microsoft has templates for both available here.

A blank certificate of appreciation with the SON logo is available here.

Everyone eats food! Bagels, chocolate, doughnuts, cupcakes and cookies are often appreciated. Healthy snacks are always always a good idea. And who DOESN'T like a free lunch?

Departments may also have other informal recognition mechanisms. Check with your Chair or Departmental Administrator!

Formal Recognition:

Feel like that collegue deserves a little more than the above? Why not nominate them for an Indrani de Saram Award.

The University also has a variety of awards. To find out more about them, click here.
