The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) was established in 1987 to help foster relations between staff members and inform staff of upcoming changes and/or activities within School of Nursing (SoN).  Once every quarter an all school staff meeting is held and in the summer a staff retreat day held at the Waterfront Center adjacent to the Husky Stadium.

Goal Statement

To increase morale and develop a sense of community amongst the staff throguh School-sanctioned meeting, training events and the maintenance of several information conduits.

Purpose

  • To provide input on appropriate staff-related issues to faculty and Dean, as initiated by professional and classified staff or as requested by faculty or Dean;
  • To provide regular feedback to SoN classified and professional staff, department chairs, and the Dean's office by email;
  • To improve interdepartmental staff communication; and
  • To utilize training to advance work skills and working relationships.

Membership Composition

The Staff Advisory Council will consist of representatives from each department and/or offices within the SoN.  Representatives serve two year terms and may be elected as a alternate for a third year if deamed necessary.

Partnership

  • Staff Advisory is partnering with the Faculty Council to resolve faculty-staff related issues and unresolved issues will be sent to the Dean.
  • Staff Advisory will make Indrani de Saram Staff Recognition Award recommendations to the Faculty Council and all nominees will be voted on by both the Staff Advisory and the Faculty Councils.

Funding

Funding for meetings and retreat are supported by the Dean upon budget submittal and approval.
