Healthy Community Design Across the Lifespan:
What We Build, How We Travel.and How We Feel

Lecturer: Dr. Howard Frumkin
Emory University Rollins School of Public Health
Author, Urban Sprawl and Public Health

The places we live, work and play and how we travel among them affect the character of our communities, our time with family and friends, and above all, our health. What kind of choices are we making when it comes to designing our public transportation, neighborhoods, sidewalks and street lights? How does community design affect children, working adults and elders?

The Elizabeth Sterling Soule Endowed Lecture was established in 1979 to honor the founding dean of the UW School of Nursing. It is an annual presentation featuring prominent nursing and health care leaders, and is supported through the Elizabeth Sterling Soule Endowed Fund. Support for this year's lecture also comes from the Dr. Leo John Rosellini Endowment.
