Each May during
National Nurses Week, the UW School of Nursing hosts its
Nurses Recognition Banquet to honor outstanding nurses and nursing leaders. This year's celebration focused on the important role mentorship plays in career development and satisfaction.
On behalf of the School of Nursing, Dean
Nancy Fugate Woods handed out leadership awards to
Meg Hatlen MN '96, Humanitarian Award winner;
Mary Salazar BSN '82, MN '86, Distinguished Alumni Award winner; and
Elaine Adams Thompson BSN '70, MN '72, PhD '90, Distinguished Researcher Award Winner.
Betty McCurdy BSN '49, recipient of this year's Outstanding Volunteer Award, was unable to attend the event. The photos below, taken by UW Photographic Supervisor Mary Levin, capture the elegance, collegiality and joy of the evening's festivities.
