The UW School of Medicine & School of Nursing are jointly offering the Faculty Integrative Health Program (FIHP) in collaboration with Bastyr University. This year-long, interdisciplinary program will provide selected faculty from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Social Work, and Dentistry with the opportunity to explore the theoretical concepts, clinical practices and evidence related to integrative therapies.

Program Orientation

Program Structure

The program will run for the academic year beginning September, 2007.
Full day (8AM-5PM) sessions will be held monthly at Bastyr University.
Sessions will be led by community practitioners, Bastyr University and
University of Washington faculty. Sessions will be small group seminars
utilizing participatory methods.

Topics will include Mind/Body Skills, Naturopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine,
Botanicals, Energy techniques, and Physical Medicine.

Requirements

Successful completion of this program requires participation and presence
at the 10 sessions. During one session participants will co-lead a critical
review of literature on one topic of particular interest. Each participant
will complete a final project which can be a curricular innovation or research
design based on information acquired during the yearlong program.
