Teaching Supports - Approved Course Objectives
Last updated May 16, 2008

All courses in the School of Nursing must be taught using the objectives approved by the School of Nursing and by the University of Washington. Please check the course objectives listed in your syllabus against the approved objectives. If they are not the same, there are several options for self-correction:
  1. Modify your objectives so that they become sub-objectives of the approved course objectives. As long as your course is using the UW-approved objectives, you may use any number of related sub-objectives, which do not need UW-approval.

  2. Submit a course change application. Each step, as well as the necessary forms, are at http://www.son.washington.edu/faculty/support/teaching-supports/38-New-or-Revised-Courses.doc.

  3. Replace your objectives with the UW-approved course objectives.

If you are writing new course objectives, you might find it helpful to access resources for Writing Course Learning Objectives.
