I am the Project Director for the Family Centered Program for Adolescents with Mental Illness. This program is a five year intervention study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health for adolescents with schizophrenia and their families. I am also a psychosocial nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority. I have a clinical practice at Asian Counseling and Referral Service, a multilingual, multicultural agency serving Asians and Pacific Islanders in the Seattle area. My research interests are symptom management in schizophrenia, cross-cultural mental health, mental health issues of Asian immigrants and refugees, and psychiatric nursing in Thailand. Recent projects include the utilization of mental health services by Asian immigrants and refugees and critical thinking among Thai nursing students.
