Dr. Sadak is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychosocial and Community Health. She is an ANCC Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology-Gerontology from the Seattle Pacific University and her Nurse Practitioner degree and Doctorate in Geriatric Nursing from the University of Washington. Her doctoral work was supported by John A Hartford Foundation Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity scholarship and her post-doctoral studies are supported by JAHF Atlantic Philanthropies Claire Fagin fellowship. Her research interests include: study of geriatric multimorbidity and neurodegenerative disorders, developing models of comprehensive dementia health services, defining leadership roles of nurses in providing dementia care. Dr. Sadak's current research includes: data analysis of dementia multimorbidity data derived from the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center database; study of measuring outcomes in dementia care and development of dementia group-care interventions.
Dr. Sadak has extensive experience in general and geriatric psychiatry. She works as an on-call attending at Navos inpatient psychiatric hospital and at Shifa Health psychiatric private practice. Dr. Sadak provides expert gero-psychiatric consultations to her nurse and physician colleagues. Prior to becoming a nurse, Dr. Sadak worked as a research scientist at the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System where she coordinated and implemented clinical trials with focus in geriatric depression and testosterone.
Dr. Sadak is co-teaching undergraduate psychiatric nursing skills lab in Fall and Winter quarters 2011-2012. She is a member of the advisory board of the DeTornyay Center for Healthy Aging and an active member of the American Association of Psychiatric Practicing Nurses, Geriatric Society of America, Alzheimer's Disease Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.
