| Dr. Landis is an Assistant Professor and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Nurse Faculty Scholar (2012-15). Her research addresses the relationship between sleep and obesity in adolescents. For her RWJF Nurse Faculty Scholar project, Dr. Landis is examining the effects of sleep deprivation on body composition, diet, food cravings, physical/sedentary activity, metabolic and endocrine function, and stress in adolescents. For this project, Dr. Landis will be collaborating with researchers in the School of Nursing and Seattle Childrens Hospital. In addition, she was principal investigator on a study using objective measures to determine the feasibility of recruiting and retaining adolescents to complete an 8-day protocol studying sleep, body composition (air displacement plethysmography), serum levels of appetite regulating hormones (leptin, ghrelin), hunger/satiety, eating and physical activity habits, symptom experiences (fatigue, daytime sleepiness, depression), and metabolic risk (insulin resistance). | |
| Dr. Landis serves as both the Student Counselor (UW-Seattle) and Research Chair for the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Psi-at-Large chapter. She is a member of the Sleep Research Society, Western Institute of Nursing, Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science, The Obesity Society, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. In her role as Nursing Co-Lead, Dr. Landis is serving as a core faculty member for the UW Leadership Education in Adolescent Health Program (UW LEAH). |
