Research: Dr. Jarrett studies functional GI disorders in women and men. Currently she is the project director on three studies that explore potential physiological and psychological causes and/or factors that exacerbate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in women and one in men (Funded by NIH and Glaxo-Wellcome, Inc). In Fall 99, she received a Shannon Award from NIH to look at gender differences in persons with IBS. In addition, Dr. Jarrett is the current Director of the Research Development and Dissemination Care of the Center for Women's Health Research.
Teaching: Dr. Jarrett has taught nursing research at the Seattle and Bothell Campuses of the University of Washington. She also guest lectures in the areas of research methodology. Dr. Jarrett has been recommended for the university level teaching award by masters' students of the School of Nursing.
Service: Dr. Jarrett is on the board of directors for the King County Nurses Association.
