| Research: Dr. Price’s program of study is in the area of body psychotherapy. She has developed and is studying an intervention protocol that combines touch, mindful awareness, and emotional processing. Intervention studies have focused on body-oriented therapy for women in recovery from sexual abuse trauma, including female veterans with PTSD. These studies have combined quantitative and qualitative methods. Dr. Price is interested in the role of body awareness in health and healing – specifically as it relates to dissociative strategies to cope with stress, pain, and chronic mental and physical conditions. She has developed a scale of body awareness and bodily dissociation for use in mind-body research. | |
| Clinical Experience: Dr. Price is a licensed massage therapist and has a Masters degree in Counseling/Psychology. In clinical practice for 17 years, she combined bodywork with psychotherapeutic process and taught advanced practice seminars in bodywork for trauma recovery. | |
| Currently Dr. Price is a Research Group Member, Academic Consortium for Alternative and Complementary Health Care. She is also the Chair of Research Committee, Massage Therapy Foundation. As well as a Journal Reviewer: General Hospital Psychiatry, Journal of Movement and Therapeutic Bodywork, Mindfulness, Journal of Complementary and Integrative Medicine. In addition Dr. Price is a Grant Reviewer: Dept. of Defense; Royalty Research Grants, University of Washington; Institution of Translational Health Science, University of Washington; Massage Therapy Foundation and Abstract Reviewer for International Conferences: International Research Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health, Massage Therapy Foundation, American Public Health Association. |
