Dr. Dobra has a joint appointment with the Department of Statistics and is also
a core member of the Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences. He
contributes with research and education at the interface of social science and
statistics. He has developed novel theory, methodology and efficient algorithmic
approaches for statistical analysis of combined high-throughput genomic data,
genetic and sequence information as well as other clinical and biomedical
information. Dr. Dobra has extensive expertise in high-performance parallel
computing that is a key aspect in the efficient processing of complex,
high-dimensional datasets. His expertise is in sparse statistical modeling of
gene expression data, where issues related to model uncertainty and variable
selection, ANOVA and latent factor models, missing data frameworks, together
with parallel, cluster-based, stochastic computational methods and optimization
techniques are paramount.

|
Dr. Dobra has done his graduate work at Carnegie Mellon University and has
joined University of Washington after spending five years at Duke University as
a postdoctoral fellow and research-track faculty.
