Research: Dr. Thompson’s program of research has focused on improving outcomes from traumatic brain injury. She is presently conducting research to evaluate potential biomarkers following traumatic brain injury in older adults and test interventions to improve outcome following injury.
Teaching: Dr. Thompson teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs at the University of Washington.
Service: Dr. Thompson serves as the Editor of the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing’s Clinical Practice Guideline Series. She is the departmental lead IRB reviewer for human subjects applications for both faculty and students. Dr. Thompson reviews regularly for journals such as: Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Advanced Nursing, Research in Gerontological Nursing, and Qualitative Health Research.
