Scholarship: Dr. Voss has received a NIH K-22 Career Transition Award and focuses his research on the development of biomarkers for fatigue in HIV/AIDS and cancer patients. He is combining genetic and molecular methods of proteomics and genomics to identify mitochondrial changes introduced by antiviral and anticancer treatments. He is involved in developing and validating a mitochondrial microarray and a test to measure nuclear to mitochondrial DNA ratio to improve the understanding of mitochondrial toxicity. Furthermore, Dr. Voss is part of the "UCSF International Nursing Network for HIV/AIDS Research" and collaborates with nurse researchers on questions around symptom management worldwide.
Teaching: Dr Voss will co-teach the physiological measures class with Dr. Jarret next spring. He is looking currently for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to join his new lab focused on the development of biomarkers for fatigue and mitochondrial toxicity in HIV/AIDS patients.
Service: Dr. Voss has been involved with the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) for many years, held the presidency for the San Francisco and the Greater Washington Chapter and will continue to contribute to ANACs mission as a member of the research committee. He also serves as a grant reviewer for Sigma Theta Tau and as abstract reviewer for ANAC, the Western Institute of Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau.
