Research: Dr. Demiris’ research focuses on the use of information technology to improve quality of life for older adults. He is exploring the design and evaluation of “smart home” applications that support older adults to remain independent and the use of telehealth technologies for home care and hospice patients and caregivers. He holds a Joint Appointment with the School of Medicine (Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics).
Service: Dr. Demiris is the Chair of the Knowledge in Motion Working Group of the American Medical Informatics Association. He is a member of the Gerontological Society of America, the American Medical Informatics Association and the American Telemedicine Association. He serves on the editorial board of several informatics journals.
