Every year the UW School of Nursing honors local and national leaders for their important contributions to the field of nursing and pays tribute to our community's most accomplished nurses and health care leaders at the annual Nurses Recognition Banquet.
Advancing Nursing Research
With a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and patient care the UW School of Nursing is the No. 3 Nursing School in research funding from the NIH, with six centers of excellence and over 185 active and pending research projects.

| Cynthia Perry is a board certified family nurse practitioner, entering into nursing practice at the graduate level. She obtained her BA in anthropology from Northwestern University, MSN from Yale School of Nursing, and PhD from Oregon Health & Science University. | |
| Throughout her career, Dr. Perry has worked with communities in order to improve the health of communities. Dr. Perry's research focuses on the promotion of physical activity across the lifespan as an avenue to eliminating health disparities. She uses a community-based participatory research approach and has developed community-academic partnerships in the communities where she conducts her research projects. Dr. Perry has practiced as a family nurse practitioner in a variety of settings, including rural health. Currently she practices (per diem) at Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest. |
