Dr. Cornman is currently a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing and a Senior Lecturer in the UW Dept of Family and Child Nursing. She is the also the project director of the NIH NCCAM funded R25 grant: Integrating CAM: A Nursing Emphasis. Dr. Cornman is the co-director with Dr. Claudia Finkelstein of the UW SOM of the FIHP (Faculty Integrative Health Program), an interdisciplinary faculty program that introduces Health Science faculty to the philosophy and practices and research behind the ever expanding field of Integrative Health Care (IHC). She is the co-faculty sponsor with Dr. Cathryn Booth-LaForce of the CAM student interest group, OrganIC, (Organization for Integrative Care) in the SON.

Dr. Cornman began teaching courses related to Holistic Nursing in 1985. She currently teaches courses in the CAM Certificate such as N531 CAM, Integrative Health, and Wellness, co-teaches with faculty from SOM in the Mind/Body Techniques course and The Healer’s Art course, and Holistic Health (elective at UWT campus).
Dr. Cornman has been practicing Therapeutic Touch (TT) since 1979 and teaching TT since 1984. She co-teaches a Basic TT training each spring break open to nursing students as well as practicing nurses and other health professionals.

Research interests include Mind/Body techniques, Therapeutic Touch, and CAM in nursing education. She is a member of the Nurse Healers Professional Associates International and the American Holistic Nursing Association.
