RESEARCH MISSION: Dr. Bob Burr is a (non-nurse) bioengineer/mathematician with a special interest in the analysis of dynamic systems and psychophysiological adaptations. Bob was first appointed to the research faculty of the School of Nursing in 1978, and has been affiliated with several large interdisciplinary research programs over the last 20 years. He is currently an active participant in nursing research teams studying irritable bowel syndrome, sleep and congestive heart failure, and the management of cerebral perfusion pressure after head injury or stroke.
EDUCATION MISSION: Dr. Burr has logged many years of service as a quantitative research methods tutor and consultant in the UW Office of Nursing Research. In addition to disseminating information about statistical methods and systems analytic strategies, Bob has taught content within the School on research computing/informatics, time series analysis, and sequential analysis of longitudinal categorical variables.
SERVICE: Dr. Burr has served as a federal reviewer on five NIH ad hoc scientific review panels since 1994, and has been a peer reviewer/referee for a number of professional journals in nursing and the health sciences.
