Dr. Berry's program of scientific inquiry is in the area of human response to cancer, specifically genitourinary malignancies. As a principal investigator, she has funding from the National Cancer Institute to examine treatment decision making by men with prostate cancer and from the National Institute for Nursing Research to implement and evaluate computerized symptom and quality of life assessment in the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr. Berry holds a clinical appointment with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance as a Nurse Researcher.

Dr. Berry is an active participant in the Puget Sound Oncology Nursing Society, the Oncology Nursing Society, and the national and international efforts of the Southwest Oncology Group. In these groups, she fulfills roles as co-investigator, research consultant, educator, and mentor. She speaks at various conferences and meetings around the world relevant to her areas of research. Dr. Berry coordinates student projects for undergraduates interested in research, and advises graduate students in dissertation, thesis and scholarly projects.
