Here are Some Problems and Solutions From Previous Weeks



PROBLEM:

Wally is sad because his best friend, Sam, is moving away. Sam will be going to a new school and will live too far away to visit Wally. Wally will miss him very much. He is also afraid that he won't have anyone to play with at school because he and Sam always do everything together.

What could Wally do to make himself feel better? What could Wally do so that he won't feel lonely when he is at school without Sam?

PROBLEM:

Wally is going to spend the weekend at his grandmother's house next week. He loves his grandmother, but he is worried about spending the night away from home. He thinks that he will miss his parents and his sister. He is embarrassed to tell anyone because he thinks he is too old to be scared. What should Wally do?

SOLUTIONS:

"Try to see how it works out. if it works he can see his parents in the morning. If it doesn't work he doesn't have to do it again." Sean

PROBLEM:

Molly is upset because two of her friends, Ming and Felicity, are mad at each other. Ming and Felicity both want Molly to play with them, but they don't want to play with each other. Molly asked them to apologize to each other and to be friends again, but they are too mad to listen to her. Molly wants to play with both of them and wants them to be friends again. What should she do?

SOLUTIONS:

"Molly can invite Ming & Felicity to a party to get them to get together. If they spend more time with each other they might learn to get along." Cody & Gabe

She can say "Ming, you can play with me at first recess and Felicity, you can play with me at second recess." Taeler

The next week Molly can play with Felicity on Monday, then she can play with Ming on Tuesday, then she can play with Felicity on Wednesday, then play with Ming on Thursday and play with Felicity on Friday. "They should at least trie to play together and if that doesn't work they should split up and trie to find someone else to play with. " Jenna and Adam

"Molly can invite Ming and Felicity to a pizza party at her house. Because they will see each other and Molly will tell them to be friends or pizza for no one." Dino and Jacob

PROBLEM:

Wally knows that it will be summer soon. In Wally's house there is a rule that he can only play video games or watch TV for 30 minutes each day. Wally's mom asked him to think of other things that he could do during the summer.

Here is Wally's list:

1. Build a fort with chairs and blankets.
2. Play soccer in the back yard.
3. Ask his mom to let him help make a special dinner.
4. Read a library book each day.

Wally could only think of 4 ideas. How many ideas can you think of for things to do over the summer (not playing video games and not watching TV). Please send Wally your ideas.

PROBLEM:

Wally and Felicity are challenging each other to see if they can each read 20 books over the summer. They are going to write down the name of each book after they read it and then they will send the book list to Dina when they finish all 20.
