The Psychosocial & Community Health employee awards program was established
to focus special attention on the accomplishments of outstanding faculty and
staff. Awardees are recognized at the quarterly faculty & staff meeting
and annual awards at the fall annual retreat. PCH members will receive a $25.00
UW Bookstore gift certificate and Certificate of Achievement recognizing their
extraordinary contributions to the department. Also, the Service Recognition
award recognizes employees for their length of service with the University of
Washington. The employee is presented with the service UW pin and recognition
award.
Types of Awards:
Employee of the Quarter (EOQ) which begins autumn and continues
through spring quarter. EOQ are presented at the quarterly faculty & staff
meeting.
Employee of the Year (EOY) awards are presented at the PCH annual fall retreat.
Service Recognition awards are presented at staff meetings or annual fall retreat.
Who May Be Nominated: Nomination Criteria:
Superior sustained or special one time contribution to the mission of the unit,
or department. Creates or contributes to an environment in which objectivity,
imaginative inquiry, and the free exchange of diverse ideas flourish. Exhibits
exceptional levels of energy, dedication, and working partnership with other
members of the unit and/or department community. Exceptional creativity and
innovation. Suggests and/or develops innovative work and/or research. Successfully
reorganizes work or resources in new ways and streamline processes. Develops
novel solutions to difficult situations. Creatively develops new programs and
modes of delivery. Is highly innovative in the design and implementation of
research methods, resulting in wide recognition by others in the field.
Superior responsiveness in delivering service to the unit's clients. Demonstrates
initiative and skills to assist clients beyond the scope of the job description.
Shares experiences, knowledge and resources with other employees within and
outside the department that successfully effect change. Has earned the reputation
as the one to ask in the department because of the accuracy of the answers and
the positive manner in which they are delivered. Clear dedication to high standards
in his/her own work and in that of others. Works consistently to upgrade skills
and takes the initiative to seek out additional assignments. Displays leadership
by bringing out the best in others. Consistently excels in performing the job
duties and responsibilities. Continually contributes to a positive work environment.
Maintains a professional demeanor during a crisis and motivates others to do
the same. Interacts with everyone in a friendly, enthusiastic manner, maintains
a sense of humor. Exemplifies a team player and contributes to a supportive,
team-oriented workplace.
Hints: Nominees need not meet all of the criteria, but you are strongly
encouraged to cite and elaborate on all that apply to your candidate.
Nomination Process: Nominators can be from Co-workers, Supervisors, Faculty,

Selection Process:
The Staff Recognition Committee (SRC) will review the nominations and selection
will be completed to meet the deadline for presentation. Supervisors will be
notified of the winners. The Department Chair and selected presenters will present
awards at the quarterly faculty & staff meeting and/or the annual fall retreat.
Service Recognition is tracked by the department payroll and Health Sciences
Human Resource Office.
