Rheba de Tornyay is Professor Emeritus and a former dean of the School of Nursing. Her longstanding commitments to excellence in nursing education and the role of nursing in health policy led to the establishment of the annual Rheba de Tornyay award for excellence in undergraduate teaching and the de Tornyay Center on Healthy Aging.
She continues to advocate for multi-disciplinary collaboration on health care policy and practice by serving on national boards (e.g. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation) and chairing the board for the UW Retirement Association's Wallingford Retirement Center. Professor de Tornyay continues to publish and consult widely.
