Dr. Patricia Betrus expertise is in psychiatric and mental health, specifically women with depression. Her doctoral preparation in Behavioral Neural Endocrinology. Currently, with Drs. Elmore and Burr, she has completed work on a subproject grant from the Women's Health Research Center entitled Women and Stress-related Depression: A Study of Biobehavioral Interaction. The grant integrates physiological, neurological, immune and psychosocial indices in researching a disorder.
Dr. Betrus teaches core pathophysiological courses in the undergraduate program. She is responsibole for teaching the neuroendocrine, biological bases of mental health disorders; circadian sleep/wake psychological defenses and stress components, including immune responses, particularly as they relate to stress and depression.
