Jennifer Barker Spring 2000 I was a mentor in an Adolescent Health Mentoring Program for middle schoold students whose primary language is not English. I mentored along with other medical, pharmacy, and other physician assistant students through fall, winter and spring quarters and plan to continue in the fall. Each week we go for one hour and make a presentation regarding health issues. We then break up into smaller groups and do a small group project that pertains to the main group project. The presentations are divided up between the mentors who decide what to present. View Summary
Jennifer  Barker Spring 2000 I volunteer as an RN twice a month at the 45th St. Clinic for Homeless Youth. The clinic offers free primary health care for homeless and street-involved youth between the ages of 12-23. The youth come in on a drop-in basis. View Summary

Also performed several clinical assessments involving the child and parent(s), taking into account information sent from school and, in some instances, double-blind, placebo-controlled medication trial. Bernadette Creaven Spring 2000 I Organized a focus group with board members from the Gondar Mutual Association in order to discuss some of the barriers the community encounters when trying to get health care for the Gondar children. Assisted with developing social skills, teethbrushing, and encouraging physical activity during outdoor play time. Interviewed two child development specialists at this ECEAP site regarding ECEAP program components and the assets of the children and families with which they work.I summarized my experience and my understanding of their vision of assets and provided them with written copies and asked for feedback. christina schwien Spring 2000 Continued asset mapping activities for Communication for Child Protection project: I conducted key informant interviews with social service providers in the Tacoma Eastside that work with Cambodian, Laotian, Thai, Vietnamese, Hispanic, and Ukrainian families.
