What's Ahead

Dear Seattle Midlife Women's Health Study Participants,

Do you realize it has been fourteen years since many of you began our study? Time is flying by as you progress through the transition to menopause. You are a wonderful group of women and we are very thankful for all your help.

Our team (Nancy, Kathy, Don, Eunice and I) are hard at work setting up the longitudinal data files and analyzing the data related to stress, depressed mood, hot flashes, hormone levels and menstrual bleeding patterns. As we publish these findings, we will share these results with you.

We are currently putting together a summary of some of our results to date in a newsletter with the end of the year mailing and posting these findings on this web site.

We treasure our partnership with you and hope we are worthy of your faith in us and we hope that what we learn about the menopausal transition can benefit succeeding generations.

Ellen S. Mitchell, RN, PhD

Principal Investigator and Project Director
