Working With Your Health Care Provider

bar

Thinking of visiting your Health Care Provider (HCP) usually creates the image of a physician. However, other HCPs such as physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, massage or physical therapist, nutritionist, nurse and dentist, among others, are also available. When seeking the counsel of an HCP, your exchange of information is critical. Your time is as important as that of your health care provider. To ensure maximum benefit from the time allotted be prepared with your medical history and questions. Before leaving, be sure you understand any instructions or plans and ask for written directions if needed. See Further Resources and Making Health Care Decisions (including interactive quizzes) for health information you may want to ask your provider about.
