Our mission is to advance nursing science, education, practice, and
community service related to 1) the health and illness of adults and older
adults using a biological and behavioral perspective, and 2) health care
systems. This mission is consistent with and derived from those that
guide the University of Washington and the School of Nursing. |

More specifically, our mission is to:
- Generate and refine nursing science
- Disseminate knowledge about nursing and related fields
- Contribute to the preparation of nursing professionals to meet societal
health care needs
- Create and participate in innovative practice models
- Provide innovative health care and community-based services
- Develop and deliver seamless educational opportunities targeting
Washington state residents
- Provide continuing leadership and mentorship for regional, national,
and international health care communities
