Our mission is to advance nursing science, education, practice, and community service related to 1) the health and illness of adults and older adults using a biological and behavioral perspective, and 2) health care systems. This mission is consistent with and derived from those that guide the University of Washington and the School of Nursing.


More specifically, our mission is to:
  1. Generate and refine nursing science
  2. Disseminate knowledge about nursing and related fields
  3. Contribute to the preparation of nursing professionals to meet societal health care needs
  4. Create and participate in innovative practice models
  5. Provide innovative health care and community-based services
  6. Develop and deliver seamless educational opportunities targeting Washington state residents
  7. Provide continuing leadership and mentorship for regional, national, and international health care communities
