Biobehavioral Nursing Research Pre and
Post Doctoral Training Program

Our Labs: Clinical Studies Unit

The mission of the Clinical Studies Unit is to advance nursing science and provide research training for School of Nursing students. This is achieved by providing research space for the conduct of human research that can be shared by a number of investigators throughout the School of Nursing.

The Clinical Studies Unit is under the supervision of the Office for Nursing Research. The Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Pamela Mitchell, is the director of the Clinical Studies Unit. Dr. Mitchell and the Clinical Studies Unit Advisory Committee recommend policy and review applications for use of Clinical Studies Unit facilities by School of Nursing investigators. The application and pre-application may be found on a shared school drive.

Rooms included in the Clinical Studies Unit are: 3 exam/interview rooms and a reception area; 2 group interview/conference rooms, and research project offices. They are supplied with a J&J biofeedback system with feedback modules for 8 channels; 4 Dinamaps for automatic blood pressures; 1 UltraCOM for noninvasive hemodynamics; 10 mini-loggers for 24-hour activity monitoring.

UW School of Nursing academic programs provide clinical placements at over 450 agencies in the community and state.
