Six BSN seniors are enrolled in a rigorous new honors program approved in June 2001 by the UW Dean of Undergraduate Education. In addition to their regular coursework, the students attend a weekly honors seminar with a faculty member. They also must complete an honors project or thesis, possibly including a research project or a scholarly paper.
The School's BSN Coordinating Committee led the effort to implement this challenging addition to the BSN curriculum. Sarah Shannon, associate professor of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems, is currently directing the honors program. Shannon also serves as an advisor to both master's and doctoral students and as a mentor on thesis and doctoral committees.
