Clinical Updates for School Nurses Address
Their Unique Concerns

The University of Washington Bothell Nursing Program and the Office of Continuing Nursing Education worked with school nurses from all over Washington State to design a second annual clinical update for school nurses this spring. The program, initiated in 1999 at the request of local school nurses, doubled enrollment to over 90 registrants from 38 school districts. The conference specifically addressed the concerns of nurses who care for children in K-12 school settings. Topics included management strategies for acute health problems, special needs of the medically fragile child, working with interpreters, and dealing with critical incidents at school.
