Learning Long Distance

The UW School of Nursing offers two focal areas with distance learning support for RNs with bachelor's degrees living in the Olympic Peninsula and adjacent areas of Washington state. Students can complete coursework and clinical practica to pursue either a Rural-Adult Nurse Practitioner or a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner master of nursing degree. Graduates are eligible to apply for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Adult Nurse Practitioner certification and Washington State licensure as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners with prescriptive authority. Most students enroll on a part-time basis, which allows them to work full or part-time. Coursework is delivered via live, two-way videoconferencing, in person, on videotape, or on the Web. The required hours of clinical practice experience are offered within the local area. Enrollment is ongoing.

Rural Adult Nurse Practitioner courses are available in Port Angeles and Port Townsend. For more information, consult the Web site, www.son.washington.edu/rural or contact:
