Network Help: Help with logging into the network
Logging into the network isn't always as simple as typing in
your password. To avoid frustration, it's helpful to understand
the process. This page will explain in a few words how to make
sure you always get in the first time! Below is an image of essentially
what the login screen looks like:

Notice that there are 3 fields there. All three
must be correct for you to get onto the network, as follows:
User name: You need to take a quick look at this each morning
when you log in. It defaults to the last user who logged in on your
computer. If one of your collegues used the computer
since you did, it will be their login there instead of yours. Your
password, obviously, won't work with their login!
Password: This is your network password,
which is the same as your email/UW NetID password.
Log on to: This has to say "u.washington.edu (kerberos realm),"
unless you're not converted to "SONNET" yet, in which case it must say "SON" in this box. There are many networks in the University, and they're all interconnected.
If it says "Dentistry" or something else in this box,
you won't be able to connect, since you're not a user of their
network.
