PNS in Practice

The Perinatal Nurse Specialist provides consultation, education, leadership, and integration of evidence-based practice in perinatal care. The PNS serves as an expert clinical resource for nurses, and the health care providers and families. The PNS develops educational programs for professionals and families and collaborates to develop and evaluate unit patient care standards. Graduates of this program have taken positions as perinatal clinical nurse specialists, maternity clinical nurse specialists, neonatal clinical nurse specialists, nurse managers, outreach educators, and in staff development, NICU follow-up and community settings.
