The estimated length of time required to complete this program is 6 quarters of full-time study. Interests in other areas may extend the length of time. Part-time study is available.

There are also student opportunities for those enrolled in the Master of Science program who wish to enhance their learning through healthcare immersion experiences in a society and/or culture very different from their own.

Goals of the Master of Science Program
(Approved by Graduate Faculty in 2008)

  1. Evaluate the current state of knowledge in a selected area of nursing as it informs theory, practice and research.
  2. Develop and implement a research study in a focused area of nursing knowledge.
  3. Evaluate the application of inquiry-based knowledge to selected areas of clinical practice among diverse and multi-cultural populations.
  4. Articulate ethical issues and responsibilities involved in research.
  5. Develop and utilize leadership strategies that foster improvement of health care.
