This specialty area within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program prepares primary care Pediatric
Nurse Practitioners (PNPs) to provide advanced practice nursing care to patients from birth through
young adulthood. Completion of this program allows graduates to take national certification exams as a
primary care PNP and apply for licensure.
Our PNP graduate program is highly ranked by U.S. News and World Report, and is the only PNP program in
the WWAMI region (Washington/Wyoming/Alaska/Montana/Idaho). Our faculty brings expertise in teaching,
research and clinical practice with children, adolescents and their families.
The focus of your education as a PNP includes health promotion, illness prevention, disease management
and primary health care. In addition, areas of specialty focus are available and may provide stipend
support. These include: Pulmonary Specialist or
Specialist in Developmental Disabilities. Please contact
Gail M. Kieckhefer for more information about this enhanced concentration.
