Graduate Certificate programs of study are available to students who have completed, or are currently enrolled in, a graduate degree. We offer a number of options based on the graduate degree program you have completed. The most common options are formalized as Graduate Certificate Programs in Advanced Practice Nursing (GCPAPN).

A minimum of 15 credits (9 graded) are required for completion of all GCPAPN options. Some elective courses in a certificate program may be applied to both the certificate and a graduate degree at the University of Washington. A GCPAPN will be awarded only to students who a) have previously earned a masters degree or higher, or b) are being awarded a UW graduate degree in the same quarter as the GCPAPN.

Admissions criteria vary slightly based on the focus of the certificate. All certificate programs require:

  • completion or concurrent enrollment in a graduate degree
  • a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 90 quarter (60 semester) credits
  • some certificate programs require an RN license

While many of these programs are available to all graduate students (both nursing and non-RN), some are only available to those who have completed a DNP degree program.
