The Graduate Certificate Program in Advanced Practice Nursing (GCPAPN) is available to students who have completed a graduate degree or are currently matriculated in a graduate degree program. A minimum of 15 credits (9 graded) are required for completion of all GCPAPN options. Some elective courses may be applied to both the certificate and a graduate degree at the University of Washington. A GCPAPN will be awarded only to students who:

  1. have previously earned a master's degree or higher, or
  2. are being awarded a UW graduate degree in the same quarter as the GCPAPN.

Admissions criteria vary slightly based on the focus of the certificate. Some certificate program options require an RN license and a graduate degree in nursing. All options of the certificate program require:

  • completion or concurrent enrollment in a graduate degree
  • a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 90 quarter (60 semester) credits
