- assess the health status and determinants of community health, including
demographic trends, cultural, psychosocial, economic, political, ethical, and spiritual
factors
- examine the lived experiences of people or residents of a community reflected in their
language, images and symbols to better understand them within the context of their lives
- apply concepts from nursing science and the natural, social, behavioral and public health
sciences in analyzing health need and resources for communities, and selected aggregates and
high-risk populations within communities
- promote and establish community partnerships that recognize the importance of
capacity-building and advocacy as a means to improved social and health conditions
- develop leadership and management skills in order to achieve effectiveness in the
mobilization of resources and the sustainable development of communities through programs and
policies
- evaluate the quality of outcomes of community health nursing programs and interventions
according to developed criteria and in relation to the sociocultural, political, legal and
economic forces that influence care in the community
